Occupational Therapy Assessment
What does assessment look like at Eala OT?
Typically, it’s a 5 step process:
Parent Consultation: This is an online meeting with parents that takes approximately 45 minutes. It is invaluable as it highlights your concerns and influences what assessments I carry out.
Information Gathering: You will be asked to complete a Parental Questionnaire and share any reports that you may have. School and teacher reports are also welcomed! If appropriate, I may request that parents & teacher complete questionnaires.
In-Person Assessment: You and your child will be invited to attend an in-person assessment. During the meeting, I will administer an assessment and also observe your child. I create a safe space and encourage the young person by letting them know that trying their best is all that is required.
Analysing Data: I will look at the results your child obtained in the assessments and observations I have made to make an informed clinical opinion. I always ensure to link this back to function and how this is impacting your child day-to-day.
Feedback Meeting & Report: The feedback meeting is typically carried out online and lasts 45 minutes. During this meeting, I will go through the results of assessment and explain my recommendations. You will also receive a written report that includes OT recommendations.
